Thank you for stopping by. We are so happy you’ve joined us on this journey! We want to take this opportunity to share a little about ourselves, how we got here and where we want to go with this blog.
We are Will and Jennifer. We met 11 years ago though mutual friends. While we were both seasoned travelers at this point in our lives, we came to the love of travel through different experiences.
Will grew up in a single parent home with two siblings in the San Francisco Bay Area. While there wasn’t a lot of money, his mother wanted them to experience the larger world through travel and began taking the family on cruises when he was young. He loved the freedom of being on a ship, being able to eat anything and everything, and staying out as late as he wanted to. No doubt his mother loved the fact that he couldn’t get into that much trouble on a self-contained boat! This was his first taste of traveling and he was hooked.
While money was tight, Will learned ways to make his travel budget stretch as far as it could by finding deals on airfare, cruises, hotels, leveraging points, perks, and discounts. To this day he remains our primary travel planner. His time in the military and a 25+ year career in government service also helped to support his travel habit as he often signed up for assignments involving travel, paid for on Uncle Sam’s dime. He has made some lifelong friends through travel that he continues to travel with to this day.
Jennifer grew up on a dairy farm in rural Ohio but always dreamed of traveling the world. Life on a farm did not afford the luxury of either time or money to travel but did allow plenty of time for a young girl to dream of experiencing the wider world. Her first family vacation was a road trip to Gettysburg National Park while in the 4th grade and that solidified her wanderlust…and her love of a good road trip! While there wasn’t a lot of long-distance travel growing up, her parents did find interesting and low-cost local attractions and entertainment. These experiences keep her searching for unique, local, off-the-beaten path experiences wherever she goes. It also has her convinced that regardless of where you live in the world, there is something unique and worth seeking out right in your own back yard.
We have been exploring together since we met 11 years ago. Sometimes we travel together, and sometimes we travel separately, but we share a passion for travel and a love for exploring new places, experiencing new things, learning about the different cultures and foods, and meeting new people. Yes, we have different travel backgrounds, which has unsurprisingly led to some different travel styles, but we have learned to mesh these styles, learn from each other, and learn from new and different travel experiences which sometimes take us out of our comfort zones. And isn’t that what travel is supposed to do?
Through our blog, we want to share with you things that we have learned along the way. Things that have excited us, inspired us, made us think and learn, and even a few things that we may not choose to do again but may be right up your alley! We hope our blog guides you and inspires you to find the right adventure that suits your needs. We want everyone to get off that couch, or from behind that desk, and go experience life through travel. Because travel changes us.
We want you to know that travel is for everyone. Whether you enjoy traveling or have never traveled at all, our goal in sharing our experiences is to inspire you to find something that sparks your interest. Travel has been an important part of our lives that has brought learning, broadened our perspectives, and enriched our lives every time. We want to help others create new memories and experience that as well. Our goal is to help people be more knowledgeable travelers and if we can inspire one person to fulfill their journey, no matter what that journey is, we have accomplished our mission.
We appreciate you stopping in and checking out our blog because we know that there are many other sites you can choose from. It’s a Good Day for Travel and we look forward to sharing this journey with you.
